For International Women's Day on March 8, Alfaparf Milano wants to celebrate all women and reiterate its support for women's empowerment, the meaning of which is summarized in the Virginia Woolf quote: awareness of oneself and one's abilities, participation in a professional and social life, taking on and sharing responsibilities, and achieving one's potential by making the best use of one's resources.
 

The theme of International Women's Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Although many advances have been made over the years, much remains to be done to achieve empowerment for all women. Stereotypes and various forms of discrimination must be demolished, and it is essential to achieve gender equality and promote diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. To attain women's empowerment, we need to raise awareness about stereotypes, take real action for equality, and celebrate every achievement.
 

Agenda 2030 is the United Nations' action plan for People, the Planet, and Prosperity and defines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Goal 5 is dedicated to Gender Equality, which is not just a fundamental human right: it is a necessary condition for a prosperous, sustainable, and peaceful world. Ensuring women equal access to education, medical care, decent work, as well as representation in decision-making and in political and economic processes will promote sustainable economies, which will benefit societies and humanity as a whole.
 

Of course, to promote women's empowerment, we must protect the physical and psychological well-being of women: this means ending all forms of violence. For this reason, once again this year, Alfaparf Milano has decided to help the D.i.Re Association, which has been working for over 20 years to offer support to women who are victims of violence. Alfaparf Milano supports the Doti di Autonomia Project, a fund created for women leaving shelters or anti-violence programs to provide them with concrete help to begin a new life (click here to make a donation).
 

There is no sustainable development without gender equality. To build a better society that is fair, inclusive, and just, we must focus on women's empowerment.
