Our commitment
Our Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda, with its Sustainable Development Goals, has highlighted the need for change for governments, individuals and businesses.
Â
As the main driver of economic development, companies play a leading role in this great program of action: in order to achieve these common goals by 2030, companies all over the world - including Alfaparf Milano - are required to give their own contribution through new responsible business models, investments in research, innovation and development, establishment of partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders.
Our path to sustainability
In Fall 2018, Alfaparf Milano began its path towards sustainability, guided by the belief that the ultimate goal in business activity is not limited just to maximizing profit: it must include the creation of shared long-term value, for the benefit of all corporate stakeholders and in the interest of future generations.
Â
Corporate sustainability has become a key element in our corporate strategy and a fundamental value of our corporate culture which, in practice, translates into a series of actions and projects aimed at achieving 13 Sustainable Development Goals.
Our contribution to the 2030 Agenda
The Sustainability Report
In 2019, we made our sustainability performance public through the first Sustainability Report, which was prepared according to the international GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards: this act of transparency and responsibility towards our stakeholders allows us to build and strengthen our mutual trust.
The Sustainability Department and Committee
In spring 2021, Alfaparf Milano set up its own Sustainability Department which, working closely with the Board of Directors, the Management and other Corporate Departments, defines the sustainability strategy at the company level.
Â
Specifically, this unit deals with:
- drawing up the three-year Sustainability Plan
- drafting the annual Sustainability Report
- identifying objectives for corporate improvement
- coordinating sustainability projects and activities
- diffusing the culture of sustainability inside and outside the Group
- promoting dialogue and managing communication with internal stakeholders (employees) and external ones (suppliers, customers, local communities, institutions, associations and organizations).
Â
In the same year, the Sustainability Committee was also created and tasked with promoting the progressive integration of environmental, social and governance factors of the business activities.
Sustainability strategy
During 2021, Alfaparf Milano redefined its sustainability strategy, identifying the material issues and priority areas for action with the involvement of management, employees and customers of the Group.
Â
With 25 branches located in different countries, we decided to develop a strategy and identify SMART objectives which are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound. These objectives took the different contexts, the different problems, and the different requirements into consideration.
Â
The efforts made and the results achieved have been recognized: in 2021 and 2022, we were awarded as Sustainability Leader in the ranking prepared by Statista for Il Sole 24 Ore. This research was based on the analysis of sustainability reports, by evaluating the achievement of a series of KPIs in three macro-areas: environmental, social, and economic.
The Sustainability Plan for 2022-2024
To achieve the 13 Sustainable Development Goals, we have developed a Sustainability Plan which is based on four fundamental themes:
